Taking an order

The order screen is where you ring items in, tell the kitchen how to make them, and hold them back until the guest is ready. This guide covers adding and removing items, modifiers, and hold and fire.

Add and remove items

Your products are in categories across the top of the screen (Figure 1).

1. Tap a category.

2. Tap an item to add it to the ticket on the right.

To take an item off the ticket, select it on the right and tap the Minus button at the top of the order screen. What happens when you minus something that has already gone to the kitchen is covered in Comps, voids and discounts at the POS.

Change modifiers you already picked

To change the modifiers on an item already on the ticket, select it and tap the open modifier screen button above the ticket (Figure 2).

No, Add and Mod

The Modifiers button on the order screen takes you to the universal modifiers. No, Add and Mod at the bottom of that screen let you tell the kitchen to hold something, add extra of something, or make it a little differently.

Hold an item and fire it later

Sometimes a guest wants an item later, for example an entrée to take home that should still be hot when they leave.

1. Select the item on the ticket.

2. Tap Hold in the toolbar. The kitchen does not get it yet.

3. When the guest is ready, select it and tap Fire. It goes to the kitchen to be made.

Change the price

To comp or override one item, select it and tap Comp or OVR (override). To discount the whole ticket, tap more at the bottom of the order screen. Both are covered in Comps, voids and discounts at the POS.
